Can Antibiotics For Tonsillitis Help With Meningococcal Infection?
Hi, my 7month old baby boy was admitted into hospital with severe infection (an impressive count, is how the doc put it). Tonsillitis initially but then suspected meningitis but no skin rash or mottling. Any way he was given a combination meningitis IV antibiotics then reduced down to a single IV antibiotic and is now home from hospital. He was at hospital for an initial check up and showed signs that his tonsils are a little raised and red.
My question is: should the meds for the meningitis have cleared his tonsillitis also as the doc suspects that this may have been the entry sight for the maningacoccal bacteria and his subsequent hospitalisation?
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, antibiotic could work in best way in all the bacterial infection what ever it may be "Tonsillitis, or meningitis" only matter of concern would be bacterial infection, else this is nothing to worry, one more thing if the child is doing well then this is nothing to worry, hope this information helps, take care.
