Hi Your friend is certainly going to survive as in HIV infected person, his/her every illness other than HIV itself will be cure including brain TB, which we call Tuberculous Meningitis in medical jargon . TB is the main opportunistic infection in a HIV person and the treatment is same as in a HIV negative person.When some body is suffering from both TB/HIV , then earlier first TB was treated first and after 2-4 weeks after initiation of Anti tubercular therapy (ATT) , Anti Retrro-viral Therapy (ART--medicines against AIDS) was to be startrd , but now the guidelines have changed , even both ART and ATT can be given concurrently. The longevity of HIV + persons has increased dramatically with the advent of ART and on average the adult HIV + person on ART can be thought to live at least 30 years more (studies have predicted), which make the patient to survive just like a patient suffering from chronic illnesses like Diabetes and High blood pressure.
