Can Arthritis In Shoulder Joints Be Cured By Arthroscopic Procedure?
hello I am a 60 year old male in 1990 had both shoulders operated on for subacromial bursitis.. recently tore rotator cuff in right shoulder. requiring surgery... outpatient surgery has been postponed canceled for a number of reasons.( cardiac clearance, not stopping meds(no one said anything about stopping them) and lastly anesthesia not comfortable with doing procedure outpatient surgical center, these delays are now compounded with constant pain shoulder has snapped on numerous occasions (quite painful) and feel like it locks up in addition to swelling and limited movement recent xray shows arthritis in shoulder joint...my question is can this be fixed with arthroscopic procedure.. and if not would joint need to be replaced? thank yo.!
Hello, Thanks for the query. Arthroscopic surgery is the best possible option it will provide best results and post operative complications are also less. However you have to get an MRI scan prior to the procedure to identify the exact cause like ligament or tendon problems for the pain. Consult an orthopaedic and he will direct you accordingly.
