Can Asthma Cause Dry Cough With Swollen Tonsils?

I have asthma and have started my softball conditioning recently. My asthma always is a problem when I work out but recently its getting triggered by anything. I have this terrible wheezing cough that is keeping me up at night and when I shone a light down my throat I had swollen tonsils and i also have sores on my tongue which I thought was weird. My inhaler is working for helping my breathing but the coughing is still really bad and hurts. I have no fever and no other symptoms. Is this from the asthma?

Hi,

Yes, cough is a very common symptom of asthma especially if it's more in the night or early morning. Sometimes even only cough is the symptoms of asthma.

So if this is causing you awake in the nights, I think you should see your asthma doctor sooner to step up your asthma treatment. He will also see for other possible causes of a cough.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
