Can Back Pain Be Caused By A Blood Clot Or Muscle Pull?

My husband is complaining of pain in his back when he takes a deep breath. It is about at his shoulder blade and 2+ to the right of his spine. He takes Elequis already due to a recent blood clot behind his knee and a blood clot near his lung about 3 years ago. He is 72 years old. Does this sound like a blood clot or just a muscle pull?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Mere back pain without any associated symptoms of lower limb ache or else does not stamp it as deep vein thrombosis. But if he is on anti coagulant medications at present, he must have PT INR evaluated for possible development of any hematological disorder for sure.He must refrain from smoking if applicable.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
