Can Being Overweight Result In Increased Arthritis Pain?

Hi, I'm almost 51; approximately 5ft 4 ins, 182lbs. I have underlying medical conditions: sero negative arthritis which now affects me from my neck to the soles of my feet, mild asthmatic and had L3 and L4 fused when I was 17years old. I know I'm overweight, but it's a toss up sometimes between painkillers or eating to distract me from the pain. I would like to be able to do some exercise. What do you suggest, please.

Hi, I feel the only thing which I feel is lacking in you and is preventing you from attaining your goal to reduce weight and thus get relief from symptoms is your WILL. you need a better and strong will power.
Now for pain analgesic, and to avoid analgesic overeating is only a excuse you are giving to justify your point. if you become helpless no medicine or doctor can help you, and rest assured your symptoms are only going to get worst, if you fail to reduce your weight.
First consult an Endocrinologist to see if there is any Hormonal abnormality that may be the cause, if its not, the second expert you need is a Dietitian, as control of intake is the first step towards a good weight reduction program.
finally you need to walk or jog regularly.
the most important involve someone of your requirement and both do these things and check each other.
A healthy life style will reduce your pain. Do not be too dependent on drugs.
Happy weight reduction and arthritis control program.
