Can Beta Blockers Along With Magnesium, Cause Depression Like Side Effects?

my husband has high blood pressure and AF for which he takes beta blockers and zan extra. he has been recommended to take magnesium citrate 135grammes twice daily for urinary frequency. Since taking these he has been feeling rather flat and mildly depressed! Could it be the magnesium, or maybe an interaction of it with the other drugs??

Hello
Welcome to HCM.

Beta blockers itself has the potential to cause depressive features. But sole intake of drugs rarely induce depression. there must be some other cause or stressor which has causing depression in him, may be hypertension itself.

visit a psychiatrist a get him evaluated for depression.

Hope this helps you,
Thanks.
