Can Bit Of Spotting And Brown Discharge Is Part Of Menses?
I ve been taking Aviane for about 10 months with no problems, only some occassional breakthrough bleeding towards the last few days of my 3rd week of pills. On the third week of my last pack I had a bit of brown spotting and then I started my sugar pills. I usually get my period on Tuesday of my placebos but this cycle, nothing had come by Tuesday. On Friday I had some minimal brown spotting and then I had a bit of spotting and brown discharge on Sunday. I have now just finished the first week of pillls in my next pack. Was that bit of spotting normal? I usually have moderate periods so I m not sure if that spotting counts as a period.
While using oral contraceptive pills sometimes menstrual irregularities can be seen as side effects. They can present with inter-menstrual spotting, breakthrough bleeding, hypomenorrhea or amenorrhea, etc. Though you had moderate flow in previous cycles, this irregularity can develop after a few months of usage of pills also. So, possibly the brown spotting you had at the time of expected periods can be considered as your withdrawal bleeding only.
If you have not missed any pill or not altered the time of intake of the pill, the possibility of pregnancy is very less. Taking the pills, according to the schedule irrespective of the menstrual flow will maintain the contraceptive effect, so you can continue with your schedule.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
