Can Blocked Carotid Artery Cause Left Sided Headache And Neck Pain?
I have been having headaches and neck pain on the left side of my head and neck for a few weeks. sometimes the pain radiates down to the collarbone or lower. It is a chronic moderate pain, that is not going away with ibuprophen. Should I be concerned? I do have a blocked carotoid artery on that side
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Symptoms of blocked carotid artery are only likely to appear once one of your carotid arteries has become fully blocked or nearly blocked.Sudden sever left sided headache and neck pain may be some of the symptoms though not specefic. With a blocked carotid artery, other symptoms that may tell if your symptoms are due to blocked carotid artery may include: sudden weakness, trouble speaking, sudden vision problems in one , numbness or weakness in your limbs....This is not the case with you.I will suggest you see your Doctor for examination and a brain scan.I will suggest you get treated for a primary headache like migraine while waiting see your Doctor. You may take a paracetamol-codeine combination like klipal 600 and a steroid like prednisolone. Hope this will help Wish you good health
