Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband broke his nose over a year ago and has just recently been diagnosed with a growth in his sinuses. This was found only because his nose has been stuffy and he was tired of it. My question, could the broken nose cause a growth? He has also just recently been having very bad nose bleeds if he blows his nose hard. Could he be popping this growth? What are the chances it s cancer? Today he was told he has to get his nose fixed before they can see the growth. They found the growth by him having a Mir done. Thank you

General & Family Physician, Dr. Deepak 's Response
Hi.... Thank you for your post. I have read your description and understand your concern. Broken nose do not cause growths like you have described. It might cause obstructive symptoms. There is a good possibility that the growth can get out when he blows his nose. All the nasal growth need not be cancer all the time. Certain microbial infection like Rhinosporidiosis, Nasal polyp or a Fungal ball can cause growth / mucosal hypertrophy. Chances of this being a cancer is less likely. FESS( FUNTIONAL ENDOSCOPIC SINUS SURGERY) is usually done to see such growth. Sometimes both diagnosis and treatment can be done in asingle sitting. To do this broken nose has to be corrected first. Kindly follow your doctors instruction for further follw up. Hope i cleared your query. Please get back to us if you have further query. Take care. Bye.
