Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had bronchitis 7 days ago and had a med pack antibiotics and felt better and after 7 days, the right lung has pneumonia. Now I m taking Levofloxacin 500 mg X 1 per day X 7 days. My Dr. said after 3 to 4 days, if no improvement, I have to be admitted to the hospital. How does bronchitis turn into pneumonia so fast???
As pneumonia and bronchitis are interrelated and can happen due to the pathology of infection and physiology can change any point of time. Since the infection would have gone high it may lead to initial symptoms of bronchitis and later pneumonia.
Continue the antibiotics for now which doctor has prescribed.. try for nebulizer and medications. This helps for better healing. Also, doing deep. Breathing exercises and respiratory muscle strengthening exercises should help improve the overall condition.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
