Hi,

Based on the history you seem to have developed recurrent pharyngitis for which your doctor has prescribed cefadroxil.

Cefadroxil is a cephalosporin antibiotic that is commonly used to treat different types of infections caused by susceptible bacteria such as non-hemolytic streptococci in your case. Its common side effects include diarrhea, abdominal pain, and allergic reactions.

It is not known to cause heart valve damage. I suggest you to take either Kaypen-250 or Benzathine penicillin for the secondary prevention of rheumatic fever.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
