Can Cigarettes Affect Gout?

Good Afternoon, My husband has gout and stopped smoking cigarettes 3 months ago. He has been having a pack every couple days for the past week unfortunately. He is now having a bad gout attack. Can cigarettes affect gout? Thanks in advance! Christie

There's no conclusive evidence that tobacco use affects gout but of course it would be a good idea for him to stop smoking again
