Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that your son has a developmental deformity leading to cleft palate and in this case the two palatal processes does not fuse and there is communication between the nasal cavity and mouth leading to regurgitation of fluid into nasal cavity..
For this condition surgical repair of the palate is done that leads to prevention of regurgitation of fluid and foods in nasal cavity.
On the other hand if he is born without Uvula then you need not to worry as absence of uvula will not cause any serious fatal problem..
It can however lead to difficulty in pronouncing certain words and can also lead to recurring ear infections as it helps in proper functioning of Eustachian tubes..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician or a Pedodontist an get evaluated and can do a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray and advise you to proceed for further course of treatment..
Generally cleft palate surgery is done at the age of 4 to 6 months after birth and done about 1 year..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
