Can Consumption Of Prednisone For An Extended Period Have Any Side Effects?
I ve had a visit to the ER this weekend for Afib. I only had it once before two years ago. I m 38 years old. I don t think it s natural. The first one occurred after taking Prednisone for an extended period. June 2014. I stopped smoking, drink only decaf coffee and quit drinking liquor. I also took NO CORTICOSTEROIDS 2015. The second Afib just happened July 2016. I was prescribed Steroids this year I ve been talking. I feel without a doubt it s the Steroids. DR s seem to think it s not. Going crazy with them not believing me. Been telling them since the first incident!
The symptoms seem to be related to side effects of steroids use. The study showed taking corticosteroids, such as Prednisone, increased the likelihood of developing atrial fibrillation. Thus, I suggest to avoid the use of this medication.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
