Can Cortisone Injections Affect Your Menstrual Cycle?
Can cortisone injections affect your menstrual cycle? I had FOUR in November and shortly after, my menstrual cycle hasn't been the same. Basically had a period for almost two months and then stopped briefly (a few days) and then started back and that's with a little inbetween. Then recently stopped for about 10 days and now full period again. From what I'm reading, this seems to happen to some people. I'm not exactly a big person to begin with. All of about 106lbs and I don't know why the doctor would give me so many and not even discuss the side effects. After I received them, I didn't feel well. Immediately after. Well within about 5 minutes. Had to lay down for a while. Anyway, is this somewhat normal? Thank you
Steroid injections can sometimes cause temporary changes to menstrual cycle. The cycles can become irregular, prolonged or heavier. They can also cause changes in people’s mood – you may feel very high or very low. The reason for steroid use has not been mentioned which would have helped in better assessment. After stopping cortisone, the cycles will regularize in the following months.
