Hi, welcome to our site. I am Dr Saumya Mittal.
Read your query. That is a very significant question and i appreciate your problem. I will try my best to answer your query
There is a high probability that the raised sugars are due to the use of
steroids. In fact raised sugars is a known side effect of steroids like
cortisone.
And at a PPBS, i would hesitate in telling my patient that he has prediabetes, despite FBS of 126. I would suggest testing
HbA1c. If this is high, you may well be a diabetic and in need of treatment accordingly (as per ADA, 2 of 3 should be high to declare diabetes)
You can meet your doctor to try and taper off the steroids and see if the sugars reduce too
I would also suggest a lipid profile
I have given you the answer to the maximum considering the information provided. The results of the tests could further enhance my answer to you.
Please do understand that some details could be extracted from a detailed history and examination.
Looking forward to your return query with the details asked so that I can help you further.
