Hi im 35 year old female that had throat cancer had surgey to rmove it and cancer free for 7 years about 6months ago the Dr found a 2.5cm cyst with a 2.4cm X 2.3cm solid leasion on my right ovary went back this week and the cyst is now 3cm and i had a mamo at the same time and they found a .8cm lump in my breast they sent me for 12hr fasting blood work called a BRCA2 as well as some others. Should I be worried that my cancer is back in two other places? I admit Im scared im a single mother with three children.
Based on the information you have provided, there is a possibility that you may have developed cancer either in the breast or ovary or both. The BRCA test will only confirm whether you have the defective gene that predisposes to both these cancers. It will not confirm whether you actually have cancer at any of these places and further tests will be required for this. However, if you are indeed positive for the defective gene, then it will be advisable to get both your breasts, your uterus and your ovaries removed surgically. If you dont test positive, then you will need further tests to confirm or refute the presence of cancer at both the sites.
