Can Dehydration Cause Elevated Liver Enzymes In A Child?

My 5 year old daughter had vomitting for a day then still having no appetite and belly pain for a few days. Took her to ER and they gave her IVF for dehydration. Xray was negative but they said her liver enzymes were elevated. Her alk phos and AST were elevated. They said probably from dehydration. Does that sound right?

Thank you for your contact to HCM. Vomiting is one of the many symptoms that a person with liver enzyme elevation can experience.The other common symptoms of liver disease are nausea; itching or pruritus; jaundice, a yellow discoloration of the skin that results form the accumulation of bilirubin; weight loss and loss of appetite; dark urine and light stools. Causes of elevation of enzymes:
-intoxication, cyclic vomiting;
-cholestasis,cholestatic hepatitis;
-viruses(CMV,EBV,hepatitis B,C and etc)
I suggest-
1.Ultrasound of liver,spleen and pancreas to rule out dyskinesia of chole bladder,hepatitis,pancreatopathy and other.
2.Blood test to exclude inflammation.
3.Stool for cyst and ova to rule out Giardiasis
4.Hepatoprotectors-LIV 52 1 tablet 3 times after 15 min before meal for 1 month.
5.Charcoal -1 tablet/10kg/day for absorbtion of gases .
6.Follow Pevzner's diet 5
Take care
