General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Dengue fever is caused due to viral infection. It does not cause diabetes per say. Any infection would be stressful for the body. Hence, dengue could have precipitated your underlying condition by increasing the blood glucose level and became symptomatic.
Diabetes is caused due to defective insulin secretion by the organ pancreas or defective insulin action, or both.
Kindly take the medications as advised. Keep the proper follow-up so that your sugar levels are under check.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
All the best.
