Can Depo Shot Affect Home Pregnancy Test To Show Negative?

Hi. I am 22 years old, female, and I am on the Depo shot. I have been getting the shot ever since I got preg just over a year ago. Unfortunately I was on a medication that complicated my pregnancy and I had to get an abortion. I'm feeling the same pregnancy feelings I got last time I was pregnant. I took my Depo shot two weeks late this month. My test said negative but I'm wondering if I just took it too early or if my Depo shot is affecting my test...

Hello,

Depo shot do not effect pregnancy test. Pregnancy test can come to be false negative. As you were two week late with Depo, there can be chances so have USG to confirm.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Richa Agarwal, OBGYN
