Can Depression Cause Hot Flashes?

My daughter has been complaining about being tired and that she has hot flashes. She is 17yrs old and a senior. I read about this symptoms and it talked about depression. I asked her if she was depressed and she said she was. She won t talk to me or her father. She said that she can talk to her friend who has been diagnosed with depression and I am not sure what to do.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

She will need a motivational psychologist visit to talk to her about her issues and may be peer pressure or adolescent issues have been bothering her or this age is vulnerable for emotional instability and at times things settle down even without much pharmacological treatments. Group therapies or involvement in alternative activities can be helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you.
