Thank you for the query. As per the information provided, you are a 33yrs old, male subject, diaebtic over the past 4 yrs (on diet control) with occasional recordings of Blood sugar as 200mg%. I would require atleast 3 parameters, to give a proper opinion about your diabetic status - the Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS), the 2hrs Post Prandial blood sugar (PPBS) and the HbAic. If you HbAic level is below 7%, diet and exercise are sufficient to maintain your sugar levels. However, if it is more than that you may need to start on medications. Oral medications or Insulin are decided as per the raised HbAic levels. It is important to keep your sugar level maintained (preferably below 150 mg%), to prevent long term complications of diabetes like neuropathy, retinopathy, nephropathy and cardiovascular disease. Please get the above tests done and if any derangements are noted, consult your physician for further advise in this matter. Hope this helps you out. Regards Dr. Ayusmati Thakur
