Iam 60 years old undergoing dialysis. Had 6 sessions already. Ayear ago underwent a bypass and have been suffering from diabetes. My weght is 55kg now.Would like to know if dialysis is cheaper in Govt hospitals or if I can do it at home ?What would be the cost and whether there is chance of infection since I understand it is lifelong ?Anjan Mukherji
peritoneal dialysis can be done at home, you will need a pdcatheter inserted and fluids as required at home .However the rate of infection is slightly more .you need to meet your nephrologist to discuss this option.
