Can Diarrhea, Nausea And Cold Be Indicative Of Stomach Virus?
On Friday I had some sushi and after taking a nap I began to feel my stomach bubbling and began to experience this reoccurring sharp pain. Thinking it was just gas I just drank water and ginger ale thinking it was going to go away but the next day the pain was still present. I had also had a case of diarrhea along with the pain on both Friday and Saturday. I diagnosed myself with having a stomach virus simply because of the sharp pain I was having and because of the nausea I was having as well as the chills. I just want to make sure if this could possibly be a stomach virus and how to treat it
Hello. A stomach virus will generally run it's course within 5 days. After that, if the diarrhea and pain continue you'd need a stool culture to check for a bacterial infection.
For now I suggest you stick to the BRAT diet--bananas, rice, applesauce and toast--along with plenty of electrolyte-rich fluids like GatorAde and juices
