Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Difficulty In Breathing Be A Side Effect Of Consuming Folitrax?
I had taken Folitrax7.5 for about 6 weeks and then Folitrax 10 for another 4-5 weeks one in each week followed by Folvite for 2 days in each week due to high RA factor (302) and positive Anti CCP(6.57). Thereafter Doctor discontinued the medicine after detection of breathing problem for climbing upstairs. I had a history of dry Plurosy some occurred 30 years back. What are the side effects of consuming Folitrax and whether my breathing problem had been generated due to folitrax?
I got your chief complaint. Definitely, Folitrax or Methotrexate can cause issues with respiration like breathing difficulty, cough, drowsiness, anemia. All these will interfere in normal breathing.
As you had a history of pleurisy so Folitrax was likely to precipitate symptoms.
You don't worry the only solution is to substitute the drug and if breathlessness continues after some time after that then report to the emergency room for further evaluation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Soheel Hussain Zargar,
Dentist
