Can Discomfort Caused By Liquid Going Through The Wrong Pipe Be Treated?
Hello, am 48 y.o. female and have noticed recently that i react very strongly when i have some air/liquid going a 'wrong way' when i eat/drink and talk or just even talk. I had my tonsils taken out when i was a child and heard that this may be causing my current reaction since there is no natural protection in my throat.
Could this be correct and should i have it checked professionally? Thank you
Liquids going into the respiratory pipe while eating or drinking is not good for health. It may cause aspiration and cough production.
It may be due to laryngeal dysfunction, vocal cord palsy or reflux disease. Please get it examined by an ENT specialist/Gastroenterologist by indirect laryngoscopy or upper GI scopy.
Removing of tonsils won't cause aspiration or cough.
I think I have answered your question. If you have more questions feel free to ask.
