Can Discontinuing Levothyroxine And Liothyronine Cause Side Effects?

I am thinking of discontinuing 2 prescription for thyroid,,,,,,Levothyroxine and Liothyronine. They are becoming more expensive and I don t know what they do for me.What change in my health can I expect? Iam 82, years old, daily swimmer, very active. My doctor told me I m fifteen years younger than my age. My dark hair is just starting to get some grey in it and my weight is normal.Dot Budinich

Hi,

If you are prescribed to u for hypothyroidism. You will have side effects of having less thyroid hormone in your body. You may gain weight, feel lethargic, sleep more and if the requirement was too much in your body, it may adversely affect your heart.
