Can Dizziness And Fall Out From Bed Symptoms For Bladder Infection?
My mother-in-law woke up last Thursday night very dizzy, feeling she would fall out of bed. She also had a bad taste in her mouth and was nauseated. her Dr. said it was a bladder infection and her white cells were to high to count. Is that diagnosis correct?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Alma Neço's Response
Hello dear, Thank you for your question,
In my opinion, dizziness and nausea may indicate a more serious infection that involves the kidney. This condition is called pyelonephritis, and requires a longer course of antibiotics, with higher doses.
In such cases I suggest to my patients to take a urine specimen for culture. The result takes at least 48 hours to come. In the meantime, I would start to treat her empirically with Cyprofloxacin. Since it is a prescription based medicine, she will have to consult with her doctor.
I hope this helped. Kind regards, Dr. Alma
