Hi! I'm 20 y/o and i have irregular periods. I went to an ob-gyne and it appears that i have PCOS or that i am polycystic. She gave me duphaston for a week and after that i had my period. But i wasn't able to go back to her and i don't know if i should still continue to take duphaston for my period to be regular. Right now i'm not having my period since that month that i took it which is 4 months ago. Should i continue taking duphaston? And also, i'm thinking taking diane 35 cos a friend suggested that it can also help. What do u think? Thank u so much!
Hello. 4 months back you took "DUPHASTON" for a week , for irregular period and you got it . Since than there is no bleeding i.e. amenorrhea . You friend advise you "diane" i.e. cyproterone acetate +ethinyl oestradiol , this is a hormonal tablet and mainly used for oral contraception and also for PCOD ( Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome or Disease ) . Duphaston is dydrogesterone and used in menstrual irregularities or disorders, endometriosis. But when such patient visit my clinic with these symptoms like irregular bleeding, amenorrhea I prescribe "DIANE 35 " doses : Diane 35 for 21 days of menstrual cycle. Start 1st treatment course on the first day of menstrual cycle ; subsequent courses are started after 7 medication free days following the preceding course. Withdraw treatment 6-12 cycles after condition has resolved or patient want conception . Hope this will be helpful for you.
