Suggest Treatment For Weight Gain Along With Irregular Periods
Hello, I m 19 Years old and i have problem of irregular periods. The Periods gap is 2-3 Months. Due to irregular periods, my weight become more. So, i want to ask you that.. Is my weight gained because of irregular periods ? and what can i do for weight loss and irregular periods ??
Hi thanks for writing to HCM. I have read your query, where you have mentioned irregular or absent periods and weight gain. These are signs of a hormonal imbalance- possibly polycystic ovarian disease. Obesity is a consequence as well as a risk factor for PCOD. Do not worry, it is a common endocrine disorder, where the ovaries are enlarged with multiple small cysts. You may also have excess facial hair and acne-prone skin with this.
I would recommend you get a few blood tests- hormonal profile for PCOD, thyroid levels, prolactin, and a pelvic ultrasound. Medication is given to regularize periods and correct hormonal imbalances. But weight loss with exercise and healthy nutritious diet is of utmost importance. You can opt for a personal trainer if possible and a dietitian. Hope this is helpful. Write in if you have any doubts. Bye.
