Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can dyspepsia cause dizziness? I had stomach problems and doctor diagnosed as dyspepsia. He prescribed me zantac (ranitidine) and librax (chlorodiazepoxide+ clidinium bromide) twice a day for whole month. I felt better but after three four months i again have stomach problems and lightheadedness specially after the meals. Should i do the medicine course again?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. Yes, dyspepsia can cause dizziness but your history of being diagnosed as dyspepsia by your Doctor and you getting better with Ranitidine and Librax indicate that you had no such problems in the first incidence and you got the light headedness only on the second attack which you thought of dizziness. Since the second attack was after 4 months it is possible that you can get another problems hence you can get started with the same Ranitidine that is Zantac but I think Librax being a combination of chlorodiazepoxide+ clidinium bromide you need a valid prescription by your Doctor. And also a clinical evaluation and examination along with investigations of upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, ultrasonography and tests of stool, blood and urine to know the exact cause so that a proper management can be done. Also see that the stress and anxiety are under control.
