Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am taking Ecosprin AV 75mg before bed every day for last 6 months. Recently I have noticed that it is giving me pain in Knees and I get collapsing feeling in right leg. If I stop the medicine, the pain disapears in 4-5 days. Ecosprin 75 without AV suits and doesnt give the knee problem. Please advise.
Hi & Welcome to HCM. Ecosprin-AV contains (Aspirin & Atorvastatin). Basically used as an antiplatelet ("blood thinner') Aspirin is generally well tolerated however, its main side effects stomach ulcers or bleeding, and tinnitus, especially in higher dose. It is unlikely to cause knee pain or the leg pain which seem to have resulted from the use of cholesterol lowering medication Atorvastatin. Atorvastatin is known to cause muscle pain and tenderness as its important adverse effect. You are advised to consult your treating physician for an alternate but a safer medication to lower your high cholesterol level. Hope the suggestion given above would be useful.
