Can Edema Formation In Legs Be Treated For An 86 Year Old?
My 86 year ol mother is suffering edema from her ankles to her thighs. Condition can change daily but is always present. She is treated for high blood pressure, meds to reduce fluid retention, and a statin for cholestrol. Any suggestions? Her primary care physician doesn t seem concerned.
as you mentioned your mother's age as 86 and the fluid retention I will advice to keep the feet elevated. Post that performing ankle toe movements will help to move the lymphatic drainage. Also you can use the stocking to keep an optimum tension in the muscle.
Also, a physical therpist will play a key role in helping your mothers general conditions and help her avoid unwanted symptoms.
As the age is progressing the mobility will be restricted and to improve the mobility the physical therapist will help get some minimal strength. Also the human body is designed to be mobile and due to lack of mobility there may be chances of over all body fatigue and fluid retention.
I hope you will understand that at this age your mother needs muscle mobility which will help her to be mobile.
With the grace of God I wish your mother a good health.
regards
