Can Endometriosis Cause Difficulty During Conception?
I am 26yr old and i am trying to conceive from last 3yr. I have pcos i am under medication form last 5 months, last month i had scan and my ovulation was good i had 3 follicles ruptured but failed to conceive. I had lower back pain during and just before menstruation so doctor is suspecting that i have endometriosis. Is this a critical issue? do i have chances of getting pregnant?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Difficulty in conceiving is because of PCOS primarily. Yes, endometriosis also adds to decreasing the chances of conceiving as endometrium should be prepared to accept and implant fertilised ovum. Since your ovulation appears to be proper, what is needed is to make it happen at proper time so that it makes it possible to conceive. Endometriosis problem could be overcome by using combined birth control pills and taking anti-inflammatory anagesics like ibuprofen. You may require surgery to remove as much endometriosis as possible while preserving your uterus and ovaries by means of conservative surgery, which would increase your chances of conceiving. Kindly consult Gynecologist in this regard for proper management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
