Can Enlarged Adenoids Completely Block Breathing?

My 5 year old grandchild has enlarged adenoids and tonsils with no infection present. He is having sleep apnea, snorting, and a difficult time breathing while asleep. Surgery is scheduled but it is in over 1 month from now and his breathing has been horrible for already 2 months. So my question for you is can the adenoids completely block the airway and make someone stop breathing and not regain breathing.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history, it may be due to adenoids.

For that I would suggest you to remove adenoids after ENT consultation as it does not affect on your health.

As they may interfere with breathing and cause repeated infections.

Along with that use hygienic food and water

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
