Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Erosive Fundal Gastritis Be Treated With Proper Diet?
I have been diagnosed with erosive fundal gastritis and grade A erosive esophagitis along with gastric mucosal prolapse. I am on rabeprazole. Will the erosions in fundus and esophagus heal with time if a proper diet is followed? I would also like to know if gastric mucosal prolapse is same as hiatal hernia.
Gastric mucosal prolapse can co-exist with hiatus hernias but they are not synonymous.
(1) Avoidance of foods that reduce LES (lower esophageal sphincter) pressure, making them “refluxogenic” (these commonly include fatty foods (e.g. potato chips etc), alcohol, spearmint, peppermint, tomato-based foods, and possibly coffee and tea); (2) avoidance of acidic foods, hot spicy foods, garlic that is inherently irritating may help.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Tushar Kanti Biswas,
