Can Esophageal Spasms Be Treated By Using Beta Blockers With Nifedipine?
I am suffering with Esophegal spasms and take Nifidipine for them, but they get worse if I anxious like organising a trip away or doing a presentation. They are also worse after Alcohol, I have read about using beta blockers with the Nifidipine, will this work ?
An esophageal spasm may be due to Infection or GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease) or due to diffuse esophageal spasm etcetera. Until examination is done, to confirm the diagnosis it is difficult to say what it is.
Avoid spicy food, alcohol, smoking, and caffeine drinks. Calcium channel blockers may be useful in esophageal spasm, and beta blockers did not have much significance. Please consult your doctor so that he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
