Can Esophagus Cancer Be Treated?

My husband had a squamous cell cancer in his esophogus, had surgery 2 years ago. In Nov 2016 it showed up in his right knee. They did a complete knee replacement then follow-up with 10 treatments of radiation. Within 4 weeks of that completion and before they could start Chemo, it has grew 19cc in his right thigh bone. He has just finished 10 more treatments of radiation and will start chemo this Friday. My question is, what are his chances of beating this? Radiation has really beat him down this time and he is weak.

Hello,

The prognosis depends upon the stage of the disease and associated complications.

I think he is already having metastasis to bones. In the case of distance metastasis, the 5-year survival rate is only 10%.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
