Can Excessive Physical Work Cause Arm Pain And Discomfort Post A Surgery?

Out of the blue, about 30 minutes ago I started feeling pain and discomfort in my upper left arm. It is more of a burning aching sensation and I can t find a comfortable position. I had hand surgery in March so I don t have full feeling in some areas of my finger. I am 45 and not physically active. I did some yard work today but not too much. I ve been taking 4 Advil 3x a day for my finger swelling

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As there is swelling in finger, there must be cellulitis type of stage involving the hand which can be a sequence of previous trauma, surgery or others. I would like to suggest

- upper arm and hand elevation when resting
- addition of anti-inflammatory medicine as diclofenac with serratiopeptidase tablet with proteolytic enzyme activity and helps to reduce swelling efficiently
- gradual fingers exercises for better blood circulation

* Remain in regular follow up with your operating ortho surgeon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
