Can Fatigue Cause Slurred Speech?

MY father had a stroke about 3 weeks ago and has been in stroke rehab and has been doing well. We have noticed that occassionally his speech will be more slurred than other times. Can fatigue cause his speech to worsen throughout the day if he has therapy all day and becomes tired?

Thank you for contacting HCM

I am sorry to hear about your father's recent stroke. If the stroke affected his speech centers then his ability to speak will be affected and will be affected by fatigue. If he is seeing a speech therapist then they may be able to help him with his speech. Over the next few weeks to months if he continues to do his therapy and exercise he may get stronger and his speech improve also. For you I recommend being patient with him and give him support during his therapy.

Hope this answers your question. If you have any further questions please contact us again
