Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have fibromyalgia and getting sleep is worse. Been taking 1mg Ativan for 6 months but not helping. My brain is like fireworks shooting thoughts in many directions...usually bad into more bad. Can the turn off the brain. I have a pacemaker and am on warfarin. Any help without more medication? Jean
Based on the history you have shared, yes it can affect sleep as persistent restlessness due to body aches etc may affect the sleep cycle as well.
Also that you seen to develop benzodiazepine or Ativan resistance as with such long term use without adding anxiolytics like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors can lead to wearing off the effect of Ativan and other medications of the same group.
A psychiatrist review is recommended for a better treatment regimen to help you with your sleep routine.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
