Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have fibro and back injuries ( I ve had nerve iblation therapy for low back ) and the pain management Dr is wanting to take me off of pain pills all together (slowly cutting me down)...says fibro patients don t do well with pain pills and my life would be enhanced if I could come off them ...yada yada ...I m currently on 4 pills 4 x day of percocet 10/325 and I take a muscle relaxer too. My question is ...Is the Dr telling the truth? Will my life be better being off pain pills? I feel like I need to have the pain relief, have quite intense pain..whether it be from back injury or fibro...I know that I hurt and yes, pain pills and the ramifications can be bad if you do not follow directions...if you abuse them...but I haven t ..Do the findings at this time indicate that fibro patients do better without pain pills? Please enlighten me on this.... I am wondering if I need a new Dr or if I need to try this new scary lifestyle...thank you for your help...
