Can Fibromyalgia Or Bone Fragment Lodging In The Spine Cause Pain On The Knees, Ankle & Joints?

Fof the last six months I've been having lots of pain in my knees, ankles, and arms. It worse when I get up in the morning. It;\'s hard to get out of the bed. My ankles hurt real bad when I try to put pressure on them. In July 2005 I was diagnosed with a bone fragment lodged inside my spinal cord. I was sent to a neurosurgeon where him and a team of radiologists told me not to excercize or anything. He told me that I wouldn't have pain associated with my back that I would start hurting in my legs. I don't know if this could be fibromyalgia or that bone fragment in my spinal cord. Help!

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The pain in the knees and other joints is not related to the bone fragment lodged in the spine. It can cause a nerve root compression causing the referred pain.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
