Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Fluctuating Heart Rate And BP Levels Cause Whooshing Sound In Ear?
I have had a whooshing sound in my ear for about a week. I checked my blood pressure and heart rate. My heart rate has stayed up around 100 and my home monitor says irregular heartbeat. My blood pressure bottom number has been from 90 to 100. My blood pressure usually runs very low.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Hearing a whooshing sound in ear is called tinnitus. There are various causes for tinnitus like damage to the inner ear structures, toxins, drugs, Meniere's disease etc. High blood pressure can also cause tinnitus in ear. Thus, I suggest you to first consult an ENT specialist for clinical assessment - hearing testing, and examination of inner ear. If ENT examination is within normal limits, consultation with a physician is required to control high blood pressure.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
