Can Gallbladder Dysfunction Affect Platelets And WBC Counts In Blood?

I have a hematologist appt. on Monday. I have been having elevated platelets for about 5 years now. They were going down, but last summer started rising some. My platelets are now at 492,000. They were 469,000 last August. I saw that normal platelet count according to the CDC & John Hopkins tops out at 450,000, but my Gynecologist (where I had my CDC) says 350,000 tops normal. My white blood cells are also a little elevated at 11.8. I don t know why the WBC would be high now unless it s from my gallbladder. I have occasional gallbladder attackS which I now vomit with. An ultrasound of my gallbladder showed small stones 2-3 years ago. I m getting terrified that I have some kind of blood cancer, because I ve been researching. (Yeah probably not a good idea.) I really hope it s all from my gallbladder since I am having problems with it, but not as long as the platelets have been elevated. but I m about to freak. What info can you give me until I see the hematologist? Can gallbladder issues cause elevated platelets & WBC levels? What testing can I expect from the hematologist? (The thought of a bone marrow aspiration or biopsy terrifies me. Would this be a routine test?) Thank you for any information.

Hello,

Stones in gall bladder does not cause these rise in your white blood cells and platelets but an infection in your gall bladder does. I suggest you visit your doctor for a re-scan and repeat tests if you have infection in your gall bladder or not.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
