Hello I just been diagnosed with gallstones from what I was told the size is 1.6cm. The E.R nurse said while giving me a paper to take back to my reg Dr. To be referred a.s.a.p for surgery. Is it really necessary? With fam members saying they can be passed naturally....
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. Having gall stones of the size of 1.6cm is an indication for surgery and should not be treated conservatively. It cannot be passed out naturally, as it may get struck in the bile duct causing complications of obstructive jaundice. Hence surgery is the treatment of choice. The surgery is performed laproscopically. Kindly follow what doctor has advised you. All the best.
