Can Getting Short Of Breath Be Due To Coronary Infarct That Happened Years Ago ?

Hi,

I had a coronary infarct about 38 years ago & am 63 now - Height 5ft 7in & weight about 75/78 kgs (about 170lbs) but over the last two years I have been getting short of breath if I sprint a bit on my walks or if i take the staircase quickly or walk fast. I am a-typical now & have been since losing a lot of wieght (about 20kgs) after my infarct. Went over from all medication to yoga, omega3/codliver caps & spirulina.

Any advice

Hi
shortness of breat on climbing upstairs is medically termed as dyspnoe n exertion , and you are in grade 2 right now.You have not mentioned that after infarction 38 years back were you stented or bypass was done, but as off now i ould suggest you to go for a 2 d echo as soon as possible , 2d echo will help to rule out the functions of heart , in case of worsening of the heart functions, 2 d echo will be useful
Dyspnoe on exertion in a patient with history of m.i is highly sggestive of worsening of cardiac function

Advice
2 d echo
