Can Gynecomastia Be Treated Non Surgically?

I just recently went from a vegetarian to a vegan diet as well as cutting sugar out of my diet. As a result I have lost weight fairly rapidly. Unfortunately all the weight I m losing is in my stomach and not in my chest. I still have man boobs. I ve always had them but since I ve lost weight they ve become more exaggerated. What can I do without having surgery to make them go away?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.

Gynecomastia can be associated with hormonal imbalances or genetic factors.

I recommend :
- blood tests (prolactin, Thyroid stimulating hormonehormone, free T3, free T4, estrogen & androgen levels)
-if all these are normal, then it's probably genetic.
Exercising those specific muscles (pectoralis) can help burn the fat deposits and tone the muscles to get rid of the man boobs.

-if you have any hormonal imbalance taking medications to regulate it can help reduce it but exercise will still be necessary.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Wish you good health
