I know that ciproflaxin tablets (500 mg, take one every 12 hrs) are not supposed to be crushed. But ciproflaxin tablets are $4.00 at my pharmacy, and the liquid form is $127.00!! If it is not to be crushed because it is an extended release tablet, may I cut it into halves and take it every six hrs? Would taking a smaller, cut tablet more often help to negate the effects of crushing it? How bad is it to crush the tablet? I got the Rx late in the day yesterday, and choked at the price at the pharmacy, but they couldn t reach my doctor by that time; they will call my doctor again this morning to change the Rx to tablets.
